YouTube is currently looking into ways for content creators to capitalise on NFTs which will allow them to gain an additional source of income.
“We’re always focused on expanding the YouTube ecosystem to help creators capitalize on emerging technologies, including things like NFTs while continuing to strengthen and enhance the experiences creators and fans have on YouTube,” wrote YouTube’s CEO Susan Wojcicki in a letter on the company’s 2022 priorities.
NFTs are digital assets that allow for record-keeping technology blockchain. We saw an NFT boom in 2021 which sparked the fuse for digital assets. The NFT sales amounted to $25 billion in 2021, these stats are in accordance with data from market tracker DappRadar, although there were signs of growth slowing towards the end of the year.
Many tech companies are currently investigating ways for them to incorporate NFTs into their business models in order to make capital gains from this wide market. Twitter, TikTok, Reddit Inc and potentially Google are amongst the top companies that are currently exploring this scene.
